Mary Garden Mary
Arroyo Seco, NM
The Holy Trinity Parish of Arroyo Seco dedicated its Mary Garden in 2012 and by 2014 it was a featured garden on the Taos Garden Club's annual tour. Mary's Gardens were founded in 1951 in Philadelphia to promote traditional devotion to Mary. The flora chosen are either named after Mary (like marigolds) or are associated with her through legend. Each Mary Garden would have a statue of the virgin as a focal point. This one came in 1972 from Montezuma Seminary in Las Vegas, NM and is called "The White Virgin" and is made entirely of stone.
