Old St. Michael’s Church
Holbrook, Iowa ---- Built in 1867 mainly by Irish immigrants, this church was slated to be demolished in 1996 when the parish was closed. Though Holbrook has no population (except the 2000 or so buried in the graveyard), residents from nearby small towns have bought the building and work to maintain and restore it --- an on-going process. The building itself is used a few times a year for events. Truly magnificent on a really back country road.
