Memorial Above Santa Cruz Lake

Santa Cruz Lake, Santa Fe County, NM
There are crosses and memorials along roadsides all over the southwest. They seem to be placed where folks died in accidents. This one, however, was atop a sheer cliff leading down to Santa Cruz Lake. I wonder if anyone fell?
