Perhaps it's old news by now, but Ocracoke got a very close call from Hurricane Irene. In fact the ferry between Ocracoke and Hatteras Island may still not be running, making Ocracoke accessible only by ferry from Swan Quarter to the west, or Cedar Island to the south. This photo, made on the Hatteras/Ocracoke ferry, may help folks on Ocracoke keep up their spirits --- dreaming of the re-establishment of service between Ocracoke and Hatteras.
