Built in 1772, the St. Francis of Assisi church is the center of the Ranchos de Taos community. The Franciscans were clearly the Catholic order of most influence in northern New Mexico, and St. Francis imagery is still seen all over the area: in stores, restaurants, gardens — even one over our fireplace. — RM —
