Fibre

Taos, NM
One of the most popular events of the Fall in Taos is the annual wool festival. Folks with interest in wool and fibers come from all over the southwest with everything from raw materials (shearings) to spun yarn to finished products. There are live sheep, alpaca, and other animals who get shorn in public. Crafts people demontrate spinning, dying yarn, and techniques of using yarn. It’s a fascinating world about which I knew nothing (and still know very little) but which, judging from the crowds, interests many. The event brought out the abstract in me and today’s photo (and tomorrow’s) show some of my impressions of the festival. — GB —
