Asis Cross
Ranchos de Taos, NM
In June local church members and other volunteers were "remudding" the famous Asis Church in Ranchos. This church, with its prominent buttresses, has been the object of painters and photographers for years --- including Ansel Adams and Georgio O'Keeffe. During the remudding (called "enjarre" in Spanish), I was allowed to ride up with some workmen in their open crane-lifted platform to get some shots of the scene from above, including this unusual perspective of one of the church's steeples and its cross. The plaque with the came of the church is welded onto the rail of the platform.
