Santa Fe, NM ---- Interior of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, the "mother church" of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, built between 1869 and 1886. It replaced earlier churches on the same site dating back to 1626. This is a grand structure, much more elegant (and European) than the adobe mission churches in so many other places around northern New Mexico.
