Guadalupe Under the Highway
Las Vegas, NM ---- Just an incredible rendition of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the Virgin Mary. I researched this art and some wonderful paintings of autos on the other side of the underpass. They have been painted as a project of a new addiction recovery program in Las Vegas known as Amistad y Resolana. I spoke with the director who explained their goals and process. The Guadalupe is there for the protection and comfort of the individuals in recovery. Soon I will show you other imagines from their project and I'll try to explain my understanding of the symbolic meaning of the work.
